Today, Bark Bites made its very first public appearance at Barks and Treats in Avondale, Arizona, and I’m still smiling about it. A few months ago, Zero to Zoomies was just an idea, a stack of recipe notes, and two very patient four-legged taste-testers, Lambeau and Zelda Sayre. Today, it was a real table, real customers, and a lot of wagging tails.
I started making these treats because I wanted something simple and gentle that every dog could enjoy, including the pups with sensitive stomachs and allergies who usually get left out at treat time. Every batch is mixed, baked, and packed by hand in small quantities.
Bark Bites are homemade dog treats made without the ingredients that most often upset sensitive pups:
Three flavors made their debut today, each one Lambeau and Zelda Sayre approved:
That makes them an easy yes for dogs on limited-ingredient diets, and a happy snack for every other dog too. If your vet has your pup on a special diet, I’m always glad to share the full ingredient list so you can check with them first.
Setting up that first table was equal parts nerves and excitement. Would dogs like them? Would people stop? It didn’t take long to find out. My very first customer was a 4-month-old German shepherd puppy, all ears and paws, who showed up almost before the treats were out of the bin.
The best part was meeting so many pet parents who had been searching for exactly this kind of treat. I heard story after story about pups with allergies, itchy skin, and tummy troubles, and it meant the world to hand those dogs something they could actually enjoy. And of course, there were plenty of zoomies.
A huge thank you to Barks and Treats for giving a brand-new local business a place to start. Being part of an event built around the Avondale dog community made our first day feel like home.
To everyone who stopped by, asked questions, shared a story, or let their dog do the taste test: thank you. You turned a kitchen experiment into a real business.
This was just the first stop for Zero to Zoomies. Follow along for upcoming events, new flavors, and where to find Zero to Zoomies: Bark Bites next. Until then, give your pup a scratch behind the ears from me.
