Holidays with your doggies can be a fun and memorable time of the year. I want to give some suggestions for activities during the holidays. You can try a few or do all of them. Our family has done of all these activities through the years.
Taking them to the snow is so much fun. They will love to run and frolic through the snow. Last year Zelda Sayre and I even went sledding up north in Flagstaff. I cannot even begin to describe the number of fun memories we made that will last a lifetime. I cannot wait for snow again so we can head up north to romp in the snow. You can follow this up with a cozy evening by the fire.
If weather permits taking your furry family members on extra walks. While walking your neighborhood at night you can look at all your neighbors Christmas lights. You can end your evening by watching Christmas movies together.
Take a drive to look at Christmas lights and displays. Many local cities have spectacular outdoor Christmas displays. As an added bonus you can get out and take some fun holiday photos. Which leads to taking memorable holiday photos with your furry family member. There are places where you can take photos with Santa too. We happen to be lucky as my dad is one of Santas helpers, so we have our own personal Santa to take photos with. Make a paw print ornament with your doggies it is so nice to have a personalized ornament on your tree.
When guests arrive if your doggies are overwhelmed set them up their own personal space away from the chaos. Fluffy blankets, toys, and a snuffle mat or treat puzzle can help ease their anxiety. Remember sometimes doggies do not want to be in middle of lots of new people and a noisy environment. Make sure to watch for their stressor signals.
I truly wish everyone to have a great holiday and Happy New Year. This will be my last blog post for the year. I am looking forward to 2024 where we will have some new fun things in store for you.
Have a Barktastic week. Remember to give your furry family members lots of attention you are their entire world. ~Charley
